The Acts of Peter; section thirty-seven
The Acts of Peter is a second Century noncanonical text; Acts of Peter is broken down into sections, in paragraph 37 we see a clause that is important for this study. We also have several other second Century deuterocanonical texts composed in Greek, such as the gospel of Peter that bear the name, Peter.
Section 37:C "..to deliver up thy body unto them that take it. Receive it then, ye unto whom it belongeth. I beseech you the executioners, crucify me thus, with the head downward and not otherwise: and the reason wherefore, I will tell unto them that hear. "
Canonical books could contest this as in Jn 21:18-19
John 21:18-19King James Version (KJV)
18 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdest thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.
19 This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.
Many Christians accept this theology from various backgrounds; Catholic, Protestants, Cults and more, appears to have deep historical roots when looking into history.
John 21:18-19 NASB "Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to gird yourself and walk wherever you wished; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands and someone else will gird you, and bring you where you do not wish to go.” 19 Now this He said, signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He *said to him, “Follow Me!”
