Philippians 2

Philippians is classified under an authentic Pauline letter and brings forth Pauls high Christology.

Philippians 1

1 "Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus:.."

  Christ’s Humility and Exaltation. This verse has been disputed largely among modern day groups and historical alike, many people today would have a hard time understanding the way Paul begins forth Christ's divinity.  Understanding in light of a historical research will show just what Paul means, we will add some Greek to give us contrast ;)

Philippians 2:6-11Christian Standard Bible (CSB)

  " who, existing in the form of God,
did not consider equality with God
as something to be exploited."

Notice the verse says "who existing," other translations render this as "
who, being," Paul is stating Christ preexisted in the time past, "in the form [morphe] of God."

"did not consider equality with God as something to be exploited," Paul affirms Christ had existed in time past, but he did not claim to be equal [isos] to the supreme God, although was a form of him and divine before incarnation.

Philippians 2:7 (King James)

7 but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

Paul stated Christ was divine "morphe of God" before the incarnation, died and resurrected to an exaltation divinity "exalted him,"  beyond that of what he had before the incarnation. So Paul is teaching an Incarnation Christology and Exaltation Christology, this is what scholars call "High Christology."

Philippians 2:10Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

Paul presents his high Christology at this point because this passage was addressed unto YHWH in the Tanakh. Paul is stressing Christ is above all creations as the preexistent and exalted divine God. The supreme God hands Christ the Judgement seat because he is so divine in Pauls view. Paul is in no way saying Christ is the supreme God, he separated the two; 'not consider equality with God as something to be exploited, "God also hath highly exalted him." Exaltation Christology shows Paul at this passage is pointing to Christ's divinity, and separating him from the Supreme God.
