Speaking in Tongues

Groups have different views and so do the people that speak in tongues.

Tongues have become a known practice to some Christians for decades, not uncommon to hear this topic arise when in a Christian discussion. It would be nearly impossible to cover every single person's view or group splits, so we will look at some common practice and the differences. Verses used commonly to support this will be worth listing here.

Pentecostals do not think tongues is necessary for salvation but a must for the baptism of the Holy Ghost, one must be sanctified holy before eligible to receive. The believer can speak out in tongues during service or at home, it does not need an interpreter, it is not considered a Church service disruption but self-edifying.

The Way and Splinters hold the position; you must learn to receive retain and release-- hear it, process it, and let it go !!!  Tongues are the evidence of God; manifested power revealed unto this dispensation, sealing the believer with the "gift of holy spirit" until the day of redemption.  Members can only speak in tongues openly at home while praying; must be interpreted in Fellowship.

Apostolic uphold;  Tongues are necessary to be saved and obtain The Holy Ghost. Oneness Pentecostals combine Water and Spirit baptism with tongue speaking; 1 Cor 12:13, Acts 2:38, "for by one Spirit we are all baptized into one body"
Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Southern Baptist opposes any tongues at all, they uphold the other side of the argument. The tongues must have an interpreter, only for the Apostles during that dispensational period.
